Makassar, January 22, 2024 - Hasanuddin University (Unhas) and Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM) have established a strategic partnership in education and research. The event was held at the UiTM campus on January 18, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, in the Theta Meeting Room (A301), 3rd Floor, Faculty of Applied Sciences. The event was initiated by the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Unhas and was attended by three professors: Prof. Dr. Arifin, M.T. (Head of the Unhas Physics Department), Prof. Dr. Nurlaela Rauf, M.Sc. (Material and Energy Physics Lab), and Prof. Dr. Sri Suryani, DEA. (Material and Energy Physics Lab).

This collaboration aims to improve the quality of education and research at both universities and strengthen the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia. Through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and resources, it is hoped that new breakthroughs in the academic world can be created.

Prof. Dr. Arifin, M.T. (Head of the Unhas Physics Department), stated, "This collaboration is a strategic step in our efforts to enhance the quality of education and research at Unhas. We are confident that by synergizing with UiTM Malaysia, we can achieve even better accomplishments."

In addition to the signing of the Implementation Arrangement (IA) between the Unhas Physics Department and the Polymer Technology and Material Sciences field at the UiTM Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Unhas delegation also visited laboratories and research facilities at UiTM. This visit was intended to foster a deeper understanding of potential joint research and to broaden their knowledge of UiTM's modern facilities.

The Unhas delegation was guided by experts from UiTM Malaysia, who provided detailed explanations about various leading research laboratories in the fields of physics, renewable energy technology, and technological innovation. They had the opportunity to see firsthand the advanced equipment and latest technologies used in research at UiTM. Additionally, the Unhas delegation also discussed several topics for potential collaboration in the form of colloquiums, research projects, and visiting lectures.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Najmi Bonnia (Vice Dean of the UiTM Faculty of Applied Sciences) welcomed the enthusiasm of Unhas in exploring the research facilities at the UiTM campus. "We are committed to providing full support in all aspects of this collaboration, including the use of our research facilities, for the mutual progress in the academic field," she said.

The visit to the laboratories and research facilities is expected to accelerate the transfer of knowledge between the universities and open up opportunities for more concrete collaboration in joint research projects. Furthermore, the Unhas delegation hopes to implement the best practices applied at UiTM Malaysia to enrich the research experience at Unhas.

This Unhas and UiTM Malaysia collaboration is expected to serve as a model for inter-university cooperation at the regional level, bringing positive impacts for the development of science and technology.
