From the Laboratory to the Global Stage: Chemistry Student Excels at Youth Energy Hackathon 2025.
Chemistry Student Earns Top Prize at Youth Energy Hackathon 2025

Youth Energy Hackathon 2025 served as a platform for clean energy innovation, attracting 582 participants in 188 teams from 86 universities across five countries. The competition challenged participants to design sustainable energy solutions for Gili Ketapang Island.
From a rigorous selection process, three top teams were chosen to join an intensive mentoring session with experts from Pondera, Witteveen+Bos, and ECADIN. Through this mentorship, participants enhanced their understanding of system design, feasibility, and energy optimization in their proposed solutions.
The culmination of the event took place on November 10, 2025, at Erasmus Huis, Jakarta, through the Final Presentation session, where each finalist team showcased their best ideas. Team Magna Energy, which won first place, earned the opportunity to advance their project to a field testing phase and international publication.
One of the team members, Arfansyah—a student from the Department of Chemistry—shared:
“The key to success in the Youth Energy Hackathon 2025 lies in cross-disciplinary collaboration and the spirit of innovation to create real energy solutions for society.”
The Department of Chemistry extends its congratulations and appreciation to Arfansyah and the entire Magna Energy Team for this remarkable achievement. May this success inspire other students to continue innovating and contributing to sustainable energy development.
