On Friday, July 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. WITA, Master of Biology student Ardiansa (H052221003) presented his thesis research plan, entitled "Implications of Wet Wash & Dry Wash Methods on Macromolecules and Trace Elements in Robusta Coffee Beans in Bantaeng Regency." Ardiansa's research was supervised by Dr. Andi Ilham Latunra, M.Si., and Dr. Eva Johannes, M.Si.

The Thesis Research Proposal Seminar, held in the Postgraduate Biology Seminar Room on the 2nd Floor, was led by the Proposal Seminar coordinator, Dr. Elis Tambaru, M.Si., and attended by several lecturers as examiners: Dr. Rosana Agus, M.Si.; Dr. Eddyman W. Ferial, S.Si., M.Si.; and Dr. Nur Haedar, M.Si. Not only lecturers, but also several students from the Biology study program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Hasanuddin University were also present to provide encouragement to Ardiansa.

This research aims to identify significant differences in macromolecular structure (such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) between coffee beans processed using the wet wash and dry wash methods. Furthermore, this research aims to understand how coffee processing using these two methods affects the trace element content of Robusta coffee beans.

By exploring the implications of coffee processing methods on the chemical composition of coffee beans, this research is expected to provide in-depth insight into the chemical processes that occur during coffee processing. Furthermore, understanding changes in macromolecular and trace element composition can provide valuable information for coffee producers, researchers, and industry players in optimizing coffee processing processes to produce high-quality coffee products in terms of flavor and nutritional value.

By achieving these objectives, this research is expected to make a significant contribution to scientific knowledge in the field of coffee processing and help improve sustainable coffee industry practices, maintain coffee quality, and increase the competitiveness of coffee products from Bantaeng Regency in the global market.
