Prof. Dr. Rosana Agus, M.Si., as Chair of the Doctoral Program in Biology, at the KOBI Workshop on Aligning Academic Manuscripts for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs

The Doctoral Program in Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Hasanuddin University once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the development of higher education quality through active participation in the Workshop on Aligning Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Curricula, organized by the Indonesian Biology Consortium (KOBI) in Yogyakarta on Tuesday (June 30). At the event, the Department of Biology at FMIPA, Hasanuddin University, was represented by Prof. Dr. Rosana Agus, M.Si., as Chair of the Doctoral Program in Biology, and Dr. Magdalena Litaay, M.Sc., as Chair of the Department of Biology.

This workshop was part of the Indonesian Biology Consortium’s National Working Meeting (Rakernas), which carried the theme “Strategies for Strengthening Faculty Resources to Boost the Competitiveness of Study Programs in the Era of Higher Education Transformation.” The event was officially opened by the Chair of the Indonesian Biology Consortium, Prof. Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono, M.Agr.Sc., and was attended by program directors, faculty members, and KOBI representatives from various universities across Indonesia.

The main focus of the workshop was to align the academic syllabi for the undergraduate and graduate programs in Biology as a framework for developing a curriculum that is adaptable to higher education policies, advances in science and technology, and the needs of the workforce. Through this forum, participants collaboratively discussed improvements to the curriculum structure, graduate learning outcomes, graduate profiles, and the harmonization of academic standards that can be applied nationwide.

As Chair of the Doctoral Program in Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Rosana Agus, M.Si., actively participated in various discussion sessions and deliberations involving academics from various institutions. The exchange of experiences and best practices in curriculum development was one of the key points expected to strengthen the quality of biology education, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Participation in this workshop is part of the ongoing efforts by the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, to ensure that the implemented curriculum remains aligned with developments in national policy, the needs of stakeholders, and the competency requirements for graduates in this era of higher education transformation. The outcomes of these discussions will serve as an important reference in the process of evaluating and developing academic materials within the Biology Program at Hasanuddin University.

Through the synergy fostered within the Indonesian Biology Consortium forum, it is hoped that a nationally harmonized biology curriculum will be achieved—one capable of producing outstanding, adaptable, and competitive graduates who are ready to contribute to the advancement of science, research, and innovation to address various global challenges.
