Makassar, October 1, 2025 — The Department of Physics, Universitas Hasanuddin, held another session of its Physics Colloquium on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM in Seminar Room A. Mappadjantjie, Department of Physics.

The event featured Dedi Efendi, an alumnus of the Physics Department, class of 1996, who is now a professional developer specializing in artificial intelligence applications. He delivered a presentation entitled:
“Developing an AI-Based Trading Assistant: Integrating MQL5, Python, and PostgreSQL for Probabilistic Analysis.”

The colloquium was officially opened by the Head of the Department of Physics, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Wira Bahari Nurdin. In his remarks, Prof. Wira emphasized that the colloquium will become a regular departmental agenda, aiming to invite industry professionals and experts to share their knowledge and experience.

“Through activities like this, we aim to bridge the gap between academia and the professional world, especially in rapidly developing areas such as artificial intelligence and data science,” said Prof. Wira.

In his presentation, Dedi Efendi explained how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be applied to develop a trading assistant system — an automated platform designed to assist in market analysis and decision-making in digital asset and stock trading.
He elaborated on the integration of MQL5 (a programming language for MetaTrader 5) with Python for data analysis and machine learning, as well as PostgreSQL for managing historical data and probabilistic models.
By combining these technologies, the system can perform probabilistic market trend analysis, identify historical patterns, and provide adaptive trading recommendations in response to dynamic market conditions.

Following the main presentation, the session continued with an interactive Q&A discussion, where lecturers and students eagerly asked questions about AI applications in finance, interdisciplinary research opportunities, and ethical considerations in automated decision systems.

The event concluded with a group photo session and closing remarks from the moderator. The Department of Physics reaffirms its commitment to organizing future colloquia regularly, featuring insightful topics and distinguished speakers relevant to the latest developments in science and technology.
