Community Service: Mattirowalie Village Receives Training on Utilizing Household Waste to Make Liquid Soap

Bulukumba, December 1, 2023 — The Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), held a community service activity by providing training on utilizing household waste to make liquid soap in Mattirowalie Village, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency. The community service team, led by Dr. St. Fauziah, M.Sc., Head of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, sought to provide knowledge and empowerment to the local community.

This activity was conducted by lecturers from the Chemistry Department of Hasanuddin University, who visited Mattirowalie Village with the aim of providing alternative solutions to the problem of household waste, particularly used cooking oil. This training not only aimed to reduce the negative environmental impact of household waste but also provided opportunities for the village community to produce useful products.

The Head of Mattirowalie Village, H. Jufri Cingga, warmly welcomed this community service activity and hoped that this community empowerment would help improve the village's welfare. "We are grateful for the efforts of the community service team in providing new knowledge and skills to our villagers. We hope this will have a positive impact on their lives," said H. Jufri Cingga.
