MAP Unhas Holds International Colloquium on Policy and Governance at Universiti Sains Malaysia

Penang, Malaysia — November 24, 2025. The Master of Public Administration (MAP) Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held an International Colloquium on Policy and Governance at the School of Social Science, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia. This academic activity was welcomed directly by Dr. Ajrun Khalid as the Coordinator of the Master of Public Administration (MPA), School of Social Science USM, accompanied by Prof. Kamaruzzaman bin Askandar, Dr. Muhammad Febriansyah, and MPA students at USM.

 

The event began with remarks from Dr. Ajrun Khalid, who expressed his appreciation to the MAP Unhas delegation for the ongoing academic collaboration between the two institutions. The event then continued with the International Colloquium on Policy and Governance, which featured research presentations from MAP Unhas students. In the forum, Maryam N. Aziza Latief and M. Akbar Hasyim presented research entitled “Evaluating PT Vale Indonesia's CSR Initiatives in Strengthening MSME Development in East Luwu Regency.” This was followed by a presentation from Buli and Andi Mujahid MQ, which raised the theme “Analyzing Public Value in the Implementation of the Legislative Functions of the Mamasa Regency Parliament.”

After the student session, the activity continued with an academic presentation from Nuralamsyah Ismail, S.Sos., MA, a lecturer in Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, who presented material on “Environmental Governance in Maritime Area: An Empirical Analysis on Community-Based Tourism Organization in Indonesia.” The entire series of activities ran interactively through discussion sessions with MPA USM students and lecturers from the School of Social Science USM, which highlighted contemporary public policy challenges in Indonesia and Malaysia as well as the potential for collaborative research in the future.

The MAP Unhas delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Gita Susanti, M.Si as the Head of the Master of Public Administration Study Program, FISIP Unhas, along with a group of lecturers, namely Prof. Dr. Badu Ahmad, M.Si, Dr. Amri Hans, M.Si, Drs. Lutfi Atmansyah, MA, Andi Ahmad Yani, M.Si, MPA, M.Sc, Irma Arianti Arif, M.Si, and Nuralamsyah Ismail, MA.

In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Gita Susanti, M.Si., emphasized that this activity is part of MAP Unhas' commitment as an internationally accredited study program by FIBAA to strengthen internationalization and develop academic quality. According to her, this kind of collaboration is a concrete form of the implementation of practice-based learning and global research. She explained that this activity is also part of a series of learning processes in the Comparative Public Administration course, which aims to enrich students' perspectives on public policy practices and governance in various countries.

The event concluded with a presentation on plans to strengthen cooperation between Unhas and USM, including holding a joint international conference and initiating collaborative research. This academic forum marks a strategic step for MAP Unhas in expanding its international network, building its global reputation, and enhancing academic contributions in the fields of public policy and society.
