Parepare, September 20, 2025 — In commemoration of its 69th anniversary, Hasanuddin University, through its Community Service Program-Community Partnership Program (PPMU-PK-M), held an outreach activity for Posyandu cadres at the Mario Na Madising Community Health Center, Parepare City, South Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/20).

The event, chaired by Prof. Dr. Zaraswati Dwyana, M.Si., is a concrete manifestation of Hasanuddin University's commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: “Zero Hunger” and SDG 3: “Good Health and Well-Being.”

This outreach program not only discusses the important role of Posyandu cadres in maternal and child health services, but also introduces the production of probiotic food products that are easy to apply in the community. These include yogurt and kombucha tea, two types of fermented drinks known to have benefits for the digestive system and immunity.

“We want to provide practical and sustainable solutions. Probiotics such as yogurt and kombucha are not only beneficial for health, but also have the potential to be developed as home-made products with economic value,” said Prof. Zaraswati Dwyana when opening the event.

Through hands-on demonstrations, participants were guided to understand the fermentation process, basic sanitation techniques, and simple, safe packaging methods for household consumption. The Posyandu cadres in attendance were highly enthusiastic and actively discussed the potential applications of probiotics in their respective areas.

This activity was welcomed positively by the Head of the Mario Na Madising Community Health Center, Mrs. Paridah S.Kep. Ns., who considered that this type of education was very relevant in efforts to improve community nutrition and prevent food-borne diseases.

By combining educational and practical approaches, Hasanuddin University once again demonstrated its role as an educational institution that contributes directly to community empowerment and improving the quality of life in the region.
