The Biology Department Encourages Students to Master English through the TOEFL Workshop and Test Program

The Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, is once again holding a training program for undergraduate and graduate students in biology. This training, in the form of a TOEFL workshop and test, will take place over two days on Saturday and Sunday, October 11-12, 2025, in Lecture Theater 2 (LT.2) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University.

The event was attended by the Head of Department, Dr. Magdalena Litaay, M.Sc. In her speech, Dr. Magdalena said that the training aimed to improve students' English skills to support their competency development, especially for those interested in continuing their studies abroad. 

This event was held thanks to the collaboration between the Department of Biology and Macca Education. On the first day, the event began with a TOEFL Workshop. The team from Macca Education opened the session by introducing their institution as a provider of courses and tests to improve English language skills, including TOEFL and other programs.

Mr. Luthfi, a speaker from the Macca Education Institute, led a session discussing various tips and tricks for answering TOEFL questions more easily. He explained the three main sections of the TOEFL test, namely Listening, Structure and Written Expression, and Reading. For each section, Mr. Luthfi provided effective strategies for answering questions, accompanied by sample practice questions from each section to help participants better understand the material.

On the second day, Macca Education held a TOEFL test for students to evaluate the results of the training they had previously attended. This test also aimed to train and measure students' abilities in facing TOEFL at a higher level, which would be useful when they applied for scholarships, jobs, or continued their studies abroad. The TOEFL practice held by the Macca Education team was designed to be equivalent to the TOEFL ITP test. 

With the enthusiasm shown during the TOEFL Workshop and Test, it is hoped that students will be able to apply the material that has been provided. The event concluded with a group photo with the heads of the Biology Department, the Macca Education Team, and undergraduate and graduate students from the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Hasanuddin University.
