Student Organization

The Department of French Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin views student activities as an inseparable part of the educational process. Character building, organizational skills, cultural sensitivity, and academic networking do not only develop inside the classroom, but also through various active and dynamic student organizations within the department. In this context, the Department of French Literature has two complementary pillars of student organizations: one rooted at the departmental level and another connecting students to a national network.

The Student Association of the French Literature Department (HIMPRA) KMFIB-UH is a student organization under the Student Family of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin. Since the establishment and development of the department, HIMPRA has served as a space for students to develop themselves beyond formal academic achievements. Through HIMPRA, students are given opportunities to enhance leadership skills, event management, teamwork, and intercultural communication—competencies that are highly relevant to the profile of French Literature graduates who are expected to operate in international environments.

HIMPRA’s programs are designed to align with the academic field of the department, ensuring that student activities serve as an extension of the learning process. Several flagship programs that are consistently held include La Fête de la Culture, an annual cultural and performing arts event that provides a space for student creativity while introducing Francophone culture to the wider public; La Semaine de la Francophonie, a cultural week organized to celebrate International Francophonie Day featuring various cultural, culinary, and performance activities highlighting French-Indonesian culture; Rendez-Vous, an open discussion class exploring academic themes ranging from philosophy to media studies, led by department lecturers or external speakers; and La Maison Française, a forum for appreciation of French literature and cinema that familiarizes students with texts and works from the Francophone world.

The existence of HIMPRA not only enriches students’ learning experiences but also strengthens the collective identity of the academic community of French Literature at Universitas Hasanuddin.
