Department of Statistics Unhas and Diskominfo of Makassar City Strengthen Synergy through the Kelurahan Cantik Program

Makassar, 26 August 2026 — The Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin (FMIPA Unhas), together with the Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) of Makassar City, held a coordination meeting as a follow-up to the preparations for the Kelurahan Cinta Statistik (Kelurahan Cantik) Program.

This coordination meeting was a continuation of the previous visit by Diskominfo of Makassar City to Universitas Hasanuddin. During that visit, both parties had discussed opportunities for cooperation and the contribution of higher education institutions in supporting the strengthening of the management and utilization of statistical data at the kelurahan level.

This follow-up meeting served as a step to strengthen coordination between the Department of Statistics FMIPA Unhas and Diskominfo of Makassar City in preparing for the implementation of the Kelurahan Cantik Program. The program is directed at raising awareness of the importance of data, strengthening data management capacity, and encouraging the utilization of statistics as a basis for planning, implementing, and evaluating development at the kelurahan level.

Through this collaboration, the statistical knowledge and competencies possessed by the academic community of Unhas are expected to contribute to realizing better data governance. The availability of accurate, up-to-date, and accountable data will help the government identify community needs and formulate more targeted development programs.

The involvement of the Department of Statistics FMIPA Unhas in this activity is part of the university's contribution to the achievement of SDGs 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, especially through the utilization of data to support inclusive and sustainable urban development. Cooperation with Diskominfo of Makassar City also strengthens the role of Unhas in supporting SDGs 17: Partnerships for the Goals through synergy between higher education institutions and local government.

This coordination meeting is expected to serve as a foundation for the implementation of a well-directed and sustainable Kelurahan Cantik Program and to provide real benefits for the development of kelurahan in Makassar City.
