Unhas Team Wins Three Medals at the 2025 Indonesia Boat Contest
Hasanuddin University once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment
at the 2025 Indonesian Ship Contest (Kontes Kapal Indonesia/KKI) by
bringing home three medals. Two of these medals were earned by students
from the Department of Ship Systems Engineering.
In the Machinery and Electrical Systems Innovation category, the Department of Ship Systems Engineering secured a silver medal with an innovative technology recognized for its relevance and potential to enhance ship operational safety. Meanwhile, in the Special Equipment Innovation category, students from the department also earned a bronze medal.
One of these achievements was accomplished by Team ISPK (Aquaman09), consisting of Rendi, Andi Isnawati, Andi Wahyu Putra, Majida Gani, and Iqsan Ramadhan. The team presented an innovation entitled "Application of Torque Converter Technology on the KMP Bontoharu Ro-Ro Passenger Ferry Operating on the Bulukumba–Selayar Route to Reduce the Risk of Maritime Accidents." This innovation earned them a bronze medal in the Special Ship Equipment category.
Another notable achievement came from Team IPK (TAKESHI09), whose members include Moh. Fadil Soedarto, Ahmad Ridho Kadir, Putri Yohana Sihombing, Ruyandi Rejeki Silaban, and Muhammad Alfin. The team introduced an innovation titled "Smart Life Jacket with Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Technology for Maritime Safety on Phinisi Vessels." Their innovation also received a bronze medal.
Muhammad Iqbal Nikmatullah, Student Secretary and mentor of Team Aquaman09, stated that the award-winning students are entitled to academic incentives, including exemption from the undergraduate thesis requirement and an A grade for both the seminar and thesis courses, as a form of recognition for their dedication and outstanding achievements.
Putri Yohana, one of the members of Team TAKESHI09, also expressed her gratitude for the accomplishment. Although the outcome did not fully meet the team's expectations, she was proud to have contributed a medal to both the department and the university.
This remarkable achievement is expected to inspire other students of the Department of Ship Systems Engineering to continue developing innovative ideas and actively participate in national and international competitions, thereby strengthening their competitiveness and contributing to the advancement of Indonesia's maritime sector.
