Agribusiness Students Complete a One-Semester Internship at Singosari Farm, Malang

Four students from the Animal Husbandry Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, namely Aqil Akram Syahir, Nabila Issa Zabila Sukry, M. Rafly Surya Ananta, and Ahmad Junaedi Azhar, are currently completing a one-semester internship (20 credits) at Singosari Farm in Malang, East Java. The internship runs until December and gives students the opportunity to manage a dairy farm business across production, marketing, logistics, finance, and human resources.
Production Management: Students are directly involved in caring for Friesian Holstein dairy cows. Their tasks include feeding and providing drinking water, keeping the barns clean, monitoring animal health, and carrying out milking. Students also learn how fresh milk is handled after milking, including storage in cooling tanks.
Marketing Management: Students study marketing strategies for dairy products, from identifying consumer segments and setting prices to planning distribution to customers. This experience gives them a practical view of how product quality, consumer trust, and business sustainability are connected.
Logistics Management: Students help manage feed supply and the farm's operational needs, and they learn how milk is delivered and stored so that its quality is maintained until it reaches consumers.
Financial Management: Students learn to record business income and expenses, analyze production costs, and calculate the cost of goods produced and the break-even point. This knowledge is essential for running a farm business efficiently and sustainably.
Human Resource Management: Students learn how to manage workers on a farm, including dividing daily tasks, coordinating between teams, and enforcing work discipline and safety in the barns. They also learn that good communication and teamwork are key to smooth farm operations.
After the internship ends in December, students are expected to have hands-on experience running a livestock business, from production through finance and marketing. This experience is intended to prepare them to start their own animal husbandry or agribusiness ventures in the future, while connecting classroom theory with real-world practice.
