The Selayar Islands Regency Government Donates Land and Buildings to Hasanuddin University

Makassar — The Selayar Islands Regency Government officially handed over a grant consisting of land and buildings to Hasanuddin University (Unhas) to support the implementation of vocational education in Selayar Islands Regency.

The signing and handover of the grant took place on Thursday, 30 April 2026 and was attended by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, the University Secretary, Vice Rector I, the Head of the Selayar Islands Regency Tourism and Culture Office, and members of the Selayar Islands Regency Regional People’s Representative Council.

This grant represents the local government’s commitment to improving the quality of educational services in the island region. The minutes of the event state that the first party, namely the Regent of Selayar Islands, H. Muhammad Natsir Ali, handed over the assets to the second party, the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc.

The donated assets include a 3,942 m² plot of land and a 715 m² building located in Bontobangun Village, Bontoharu Subdistrict, Selayar Islands Regency. The Rector of Hasanuddin University stated that this donation is a strategic step toward expanding access to vocational education and supporting human resource development in the island region.

Meanwhile, the Selayar Islands Regency Government emphasized that this grant aims to strengthen collaboration between local governments and universities in creating education that is relevant to the region’s needs.

With the handover of these assets, management and utilization are now the full responsibility of Hasanuddin University as the grant recipient, in accordance with the terms agreed upon in the grant agreement.

This initiative is expected to serve as a significant milestone in the development of vocational education in Selayar Islands Regency, while also accelerating the improvement of high-quality, competitive human resources.
