LAM-TEK Conducts Accreditation Visit for the Metallurgical Extraction Technology Study Program at Unhas
The Independent Accreditation Institute for Engineering (LAM-TEK) conducted an accreditation site visit for the Metallurgical Extraction Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University (Unhas). The activity, which aimed to ensure quality and strengthen the study program’s governance, began at 8:00 a.m. WITA at the Faculty of Vocational Studies Meeting Room, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Monday (October 20).
The event was attended by Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc.; Head of the Institute for Quality Assurance and Educational Development (LPMPP) Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc.; Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu, MP.; along with the vice deans, Chair of the Faculty Senate, and Head of GPM-PR. The assessment team consisted of Wiwik Purwadi, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Drs. Moh. Hartono, M.T.
Unhas Rector Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa stated that the establishment of the Metallurgical Extraction Technology Study Program is an important part of Unhas’ broader strategy to strengthen the role of vocational education based on science and technology while remaining relevant to the needs of future industries.
“In the development of Unhas, the presence of this study program is an important component in supporting higher education, science, and technology for the global community. This assessment is a strategic step to further strengthen Unhas and enhance its global recognition, particularly through the numerous collaborations established by the Metallurgical Extraction Technology Study Program,” said Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa.
Vocational education has a strategic position as a driver of applied innovation. Therefore, strengthening accreditation and enhancing the capacity of study programs are fundamental steps to ensure that graduates possess strong competencies, high competitiveness, and the ability to respond to challenges in the global industry.
Representing the assessment team, Wiwik Purwadi, S.T., M.T., expressed his appreciation for the Faculty of Vocational Studies Unhas and its readiness to develop metallurgy, a field considered challenging yet strategic for the future of the national industry.
“I am very proud to have been appointed as an assessor at Unhas because the Faculty of Vocational Studies has taken the initiative to establish a metallurgy field that is highly complex. We have been entrusted by LAM-TEK to support the development of this study program so that it can make a meaningful contribution to industry,” said Wiwik.
He further explained that strengthening a study program such as Metallurgical Extraction Technology has strategic significance in supporting the downstream processing of natural resources, particularly in the mining and materials sectors. Through sound academic management and strong collaboration with industry, Unhas is expected to play a leading role in producing competent and highly competitive vocational professionals in metallurgical technology.
Following the opening remarks, the activity continued with a field assessment covering the review of academic documents, inspection of laboratory facilities and infrastructure, as well as discussions with the study program management and lecturers.
The activity proceeded smoothly and was characterized by a strong spirit of collaboration. The assessment team also provided several constructive recommendations aimed at improving the learning system, strengthening the curriculum, and enhancing the quality of research and community service.
This accreditation visit represents an important step in strengthening the presence of the Faculty of Vocational Studies Unhas as a vocational education institution focused on innovation and technology, while also reinforcing global collaboration, particularly in the field of metallurgical extraction technology.
