MAKASSAR — QS World University Rankings (WUR) has officially announced the results of its Asia University Rankings (AUR) 2026. The assessment, which evaluated 1,526 universities across 25 Asian countries, reflects the quality of academic and research-oriented governance.

According to information received from QS management on Saturday, October 18, 2025, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) has made a significant leap. In the AUR 2025 assessment, Unhas was ranked 236th in Asia. In the newly released AUR 2026, Unhas has climbed to the 201st position.

This shift is a clear testament to Unhas’ steadily improving governance. AUR 2026 serves as global recognition of the university’s compliance with quality standards based on key indicators.

QS AUR employs a unique methodology to evaluate university quality, comprising 4 variables and 11 indicators:

  3. Papers per Faculty

  2. Staff with PhD

Director of Reputation Enhancement at Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rohani Ambo Rappe, M.Si, stated that this proud achievement is the result of hard work, smart strategies, and collective efforts from all elements of the Unhas academic community.

“In recent years, Unhas has developed international recognition programs by enhancing its reputation. We’ve implemented continuous improvements across all aspects of learning and governance,” said Rohani.

Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, emphasized that Unhas’ progress and excellence are undeniable facts. Through a series of strategic initiatives, Unhas has proven its ability to move forward swiftly.

“There’s no longer any reason to label Unhas as a slow-moving campus. The leap from rank 236 to 201 in Asia is a clear statement that we are on a globally recognized path,” said Prof. JJ.

Unhas is now operating in acceleration mode. Every international assessment is not taken at face value. The university consistently conducts reviews to identify areas needing attention. With this approach, continuous improvement remains the focus of every program.
