Official Meeting between the Head of the Department of Statistics and Mathematics at UNHAS and the Head of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Malaya

Makassar, October 17, 2023 – Today, an official meeting was held between the Head of the Department of Statistics and Mathematics at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Dr. Anna Islamiyati, S.Si., M.Si., and Prof. Dr. Nurdin, M.Si., with the Head of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Malaya, Prof. Dr. Wong Kok Bin and Associate Prof. Dr. Ng Kok Haur, in Makassar. The purpose of this meeting was to enhance collaboration between the two institutions in the fields of statistics and mathematics.

During the meeting, representatives from UNHAS and the University of Malaya discussed various collaboration opportunities. One of the main focuses of the discussion was research exchange, academic personnel exchange, and joint program development in the fields of statistics and mathematics.

Both parties agreed that this collaboration would bring significant benefits to both institutions and contribute to enhancing the understanding and development of statistics and mathematics in both countries.

“We are very excited to initiate a close collaboration with the University of Malaya. This collaboration will open doors for valuable knowledge and experience exchange between our two institutions,” said Dr. Anna Islamiyati, S.Si., M.Si.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Wong Kok Bin also welcomed this collaboration opportunity, stating, “We believe that collaboration with UNHAS will have a positive impact on the development of mathematics and statistics in the Southeast Asian region. We hope to further expand this collaboration in the future.”

This meeting marks the initial step in building a close relationship between UNHAS and the University of Malaya in the fields of statistics and mathematics, and it is hoped to serve as a foundation for broader cooperation in the future.
