"Guest Lecture and Workshop: Scientific Writing and Manuscript Submission for Journal and Conference"

The Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Hasanuddin University held a Guest Lecture on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Lecture Theater 2 (2nd Floor) FMIPA. This activity presented Riuh Wardhani, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D (Cand.) , who is an alumnus of the Department of Biology and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Chungnam National University, South Korea . This activity was attended by lecturers, undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Biology

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Biology Department, Dr. Magdalena Litaay, M.Sc. In her remarks, she expressed her appreciation for the guest lecture and urged all participants to make the most of the opportunity. She also emphasized that the guest lecture and scientific publication writing workshop are important platforms for students and lecturers to improve their academic capacity, particularly in writing high-quality scientific papers.

As a resource person for the Guest Lecture and Workshop, Riuh Wardhani, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Cand.) presented two main topics. In the first session, he introduced the Livestock Environment Laboratory at Chungnam National University.

In his presentation, Riuh outlined various campus facilities, particularly the laboratories, which students can utilize during their studies and research. He also outlined the various multidisciplinary research projects conducted in these laboratories and provided an overview of opportunities for international research collaboration and scholarships.

In the second session, Riuh Wardhani, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D (Cand.) presented a topic entitled "Scientific Writing and Manuscript Submission for Journals and Conferences ." In her presentation, she provided an overview of various articles that have been successfully published in reputable international journals.

Riuh comprehensively explained the importance of understanding the research and publication ecosystem, and outlined the stages in preparing a scientific manuscript, from planning and writing to submission . He further emphasized how this process not only produces a manuscript but also culminates in the production of high-quality scientific publications that contribute to the advancement of science.

Following the presentation, the event continued with an interactive discussion session between students and the presenters. Students enthusiastically asked various questions related to their study experiences, research opportunities, and tips for writing scientific publications. Riuh Wardhani openly provided answers, shared her experiences, and provided motivation to boost students' confidence in developing their academic and research skills at the international level.

The guest lecture concluded with a photo session with the presenters, the Head of the Department of Biology, Professor of Microbiology, Prof. Dr. Dirayah R. Husain, DEA, and all the students who participated. This moment of togetherness served as a warm closing and captured the spirit of collaboration and academic enthusiasm of all participants.
