UB–Unhas Master’s Programs in Mathematics Promote Research Collaboration through Joint Colloquium

The Master’s Programs in Mathematics at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) scheduled a joint colloquium for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, under the theme “Sharing Ideas, Strengthening Collaboration for the Advancement of Mathematics.” The forum was designed to provide students from both universities with an opportunity to share their research.

The event was scheduled from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) in a hybrid format, combining an in-person session at the GS Meeting Room on the second floor of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Brawijaya, with online participation via Zoom.

The colloquium featured two student speakers from different research fields. Safrizal Ardana Ardiyansa of Universitas Brawijaya was scheduled to present “Stock Portfolio Optimization Using Metaheuristic Algorithms.” His research focuses on computational approaches to stock portfolio optimization.

Zaidulkhair Hamzi of Universitas Hasanuddin was scheduled to present “The Behavior of the Chromatic Index of Bipartite Graphs under Bondy–Chvátal Closure.” His topic explores graph theory, particularly the chromatic index of bipartite graphs in relation to the Bondy–Chvátal closure operation.

Through this joint colloquium, the two programs aim to encourage knowledge exchange, support academic discussion, and create opportunities for research collaboration. The topics also illustrate the breadth of mathematics, spanning theoretical development and practical applications.
