Unhas Department of Statistics Holds Workshop on Scientific Article Writing Using LaTex

Makassar - The Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University will hold a Workshop on Scientific Article Writing Using LaTeX on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. This activity is scheduled to take place from 09.00-11.00 WITA at the Ballroom of the Department of Statistics, Hasanuddin University.
The workshop is one of the efforts of the Department of Statistics, Hasanuddin University to improve the ability of the academic community in preparing scientific articles systematically, consistently, and in accordance with publication standards. This activity is particularly expected to support the improvement of quality and productivity of scientific publications for students of the Master's Program in Statistics and the Data Science Study Program.
The Department of Statistics presents Dr. Andi Kresna Jaya, S.Si., M.Si. as the speaker. In this activity, participants will gain an understanding of the use of LaTeX as a tool for preparing academic documents and scientific articles.
LaTeX is widely used in scientific writing, especially in the fields of statistics, mathematics, data science, and computational sciences. This tool makes it easier for writers to organize document structure, display mathematical equations, arrange tables and figures, and manage citations and bibliographies consistently.
Through this workshop, participants are expected to understand the basic stages of writing articles using LaTeX, starting from document creation, article section arrangement, formula writing, table and figure insertion, to reference management. These skills are expected to help students prepare manuscripts that are more organized and in accordance with scientific journal templates.
In addition to improving technical skills, this activity is expected to encourage students to develop research results, theses, and other academic activities into articles worthy of publication in national and international journals.
The implementation of this workshop is part of the commitment of the Department of Statistics, Hasanuddin University to strengthen academic culture and scientific publications. The improvement of writing skills using LaTeX is expected to contribute to the improvement of quality and quantity of publications in the fields of statistics and data science.
