Bachelor Mathematics Program FMIPA Unhas Holds Accreditation Field Assessment

Makassar, June 19, 2025 – The Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) is currently undergoing a Field Assessment for accreditation. This process, organized by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA), is taking place over two days, from Thursday, June 19, to Friday, June 20, 2025.

The Assessor Team from LAMSAMA assigned to conduct this evaluation consists of Prof. Dr. Agus Suryanto, M.Sc. from Brawijaya University and Prof. Subchan, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Their main objective is to verify data and directly assess the academic quality and governance system implemented in the Unhas Mathematics Study Program.

The Dean of FMIPA Unhas, Dr. Sci. Muhammad Zakir, S.Si., M.Si., in his welcoming remarks, emphasized the importance of this assessment as an external benchmark for the faculty’s academic quality. “Through this Field Assessment, we can see how others evaluate us, so we can understand the development of our academic quality,” he stated.

The event was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM(K). He stated that Unhas has a strong commitment to quality improvement, with FMIPA being one of its best practices. “However, we still need input, support, correction, and opportunities to improve ourselves,” he expressed. He hopes this assessment process will provide valuable feedback for continuous improvement and the achievement of “UNGGUL” (Superior) accreditation status for the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program.

Throughout the assessment, the assessor team will conduct a comprehensive evaluation covering various aspects, from the curriculum and learning processes to lecturer qualifications and the availability of supporting facilities and infrastructure. This evaluation aims to ensure the study program meets the national standards set by LAMSAMA and is capable of making a significant contribution to the advancement of education, research, and technology in Indonesia.
