To Promote the Application of Archaeological Expertise and Achieve the 2026 Key Performance Indicators, a Team of Lecturers and Students Carried Out a Survey of Foreign Ceramics at the Losari Beach Hotel

Makassar – With a view to strengthening the tangible contribution of academic expertise to the business sector and society, and to support the fulfilment of the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) for Higher Education Institutions as stipulated in the Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology No. 358/M/KEP/2025, a team of lecturers and students from the Archaeology Study Programme, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Hasanuddin University carried out a community service activity entitled ‘Cataloguing the Collection of Foreign Ceramics Belonging to Losari Beach Hotel’. This assignment was officially carried out in accordance with the Letter of Assignment dated 8 October 2026.

This activity directly supports the achievement of the 12 latest Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Higher Education Institutions, specifically:
  • KPI 3 (Percentage of Students Engaged in Activities or Achieving Achievements Outside Their Degree Programmes): Providing students with direct practical experience outside the classroom.
  • KPI 5 (Ratio of Outputs from Collaboration and Commercialisation): Implementing archaeological research expertise through concrete collaboration with partners in the industrial and hospitality/tourism sectors.
Through the commercialisation of archaeological knowledge, research and knowledge regarding cultural heritage do not merely remain as academic studies or scientific papers, but are transformed into inventory data and public information that possess historical and educational value, whilst also enhancing the appeal of cultural products within the regional tourism sector.
