GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
GOALS
Referring to the university's objectives, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, and the PSSA vision and mission as the basis for deriving PSSA objectives, the objectives of the Arabic Literature Study Program are formulated in the form of a competency profile expected of graduates that aligns with the needs and standards demanded by graduate users (stakeholders) and job market demands. These objectives are outlined in three objectives:
- To produce Arabic literature graduates who are professional, independent, possess noble character, and have a global perspective.
- To develop an autonomous and self-directed academic community capable of studying, researching, analysing, and solving problems in the field of Arabic language and culture.
- To increase the quantity and quality of graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.50 within a maximum of 8 (eight) semesters.
- To improve the quality of organisational governance so that all activities are organised and conducted properly and procedurally in accordance with institutional policies and regulations and Islamic boarding school regulations.
- To create innovative, valuable, and effective research programs that meet the needs of science and technology and society.
Increasing community service activities that can provide alternative solutions to various community problems and needs.
Improving the quality of teaching and learning staff, the quality of the learning process, and the quality of supporting facilities, infrastructure, and equipment.
OBJECTIVES
The educational objectives in the Arabic Study Program are:
- To promote and enhance academic and professional excellence by mastering various models and methods of Arabic language learning, teaching technology, and social engagement within educational and societal contexts.
- To cultivate a strong research capacity by mastering theories, methodologies, and data analysis techniques in the fields of Arabic language, literature, and cultural studies, and by fostering interdisciplinary integration.
- To strengthen professional competence in language practice, particularly in translation and Arabic communication, through a comprehensive mastery of theoretical and practical knowledge, cultural literacy, and digital tools.
Competences that should be developed by students within the Arabic Study Program based on their concentration:
- Academic Competence:
- Ability to master and apply various language learning models and methods in Arabic language education.
- Proficiency in using learning technologies for Arabic language instruction.
- Capacity to demonstrate professional and social skills relevant to language learning environments.
- Research Competence:
- In-depth understanding of Arabic studies’ linguistic, literary, and cultural theories and perspectives.
- Ability to design and conduct interdisciplinary research using appropriate methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Capacity to evaluate and write scientific research reports aligned with academic publication standards.
- Proficiency in using information technology in Arabic language and cultural research.
- Language Practitioner Competence:
- Mastery of translation theories, techniques, and practices between Arabic and other languages.
- Proficiency in source and target languages with sensitivity to cultural nuances.
- Ability to produce accurate and contextually appropriate translations using digital tools.
- Fluency in Arabic oral communication, including both academic and literary discourse.
