Historical milestones and the journey of the Undergraduate Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University:
Originating from the assignment letter by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti), Ministry of Education and Culture RI No. 148/E.E2/DT/2014, the Department of Mathematics FMIPA Unhas was mandated to establish a study program grounded in the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (Presidential Regulation No. 8/2012). The official operational permit was established through Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 163/E/O/2014 dated June 10, 2014 as the Computer Science Study Program, initially led by Dr. Armin Lawi, M.Eng. as its first Head of Program (Rector Decree No. 27570/UN4/KP.04/2014).
The program accepted its first student cohort in the 2014/2015 Academic Year through the independent admission track, with 61 students completing registration out of 1,858 applicants. The 2014–2018 Higher Education Curriculum (KPT) was implemented and thoroughly developed through workshops under the Study Program Capacity Building Program (PKPS) in 2015 and 2016, ensuring all courses were equipped with comprehensive semester learning plans (RPS) and teaching materials.
Hasanuddin University, through the Institute for Educational Quality Assurance and Development (LPMPP), coordinated university-wide curriculum alignment based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). This initiative produced the 2018–2022 KPT ratified by Rector Decree No. 3923/UN4.1/KEP/2020, which commenced implementation in the Odd Semester of the 2018/2019 Academic Year.
The program submitted its inaugural accreditation review to the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and successfully earned "B" Accreditation according to BAN-PT Decree No. 3475/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/XII/2018.
In accordance with recommendations from Ditjen Dikti and APTIKOM regarding academic nomenclature restructuring, Hasanuddin University renamed Computer Science to the Information Systems Study Program via Rector Decree No. 452/UN4.1/KEP/2021. This transition was supported by a National Webinar on February 13, 2021 and consultative Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to develop the 2021–2025 OBE Curriculum for Information Systems, introduced in the Odd Semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Year.
Note: From its inception in 2014 as Computer Science to its strategic transformation into Information Systems in 2021, the study program has consistently innovated to deliver quality education and cultivate graduates ready to lead national digital transformation.
