The Undergraduate Statistics Study Program at Unhas Strengthens International Academic Collaboration through Academic Discussion and Guest Lecture with UiTM Malaysia
Makassar, 2 September 2026
The Undergraduate Statistics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Hasanuddin strengthened its international academic network through Academic Discussion and Guest Lecture activities with a delegation from the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FSKM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.
This activity was part of the academic visit of the UiTM Malaysia delegation to FMIPA Universitas Hasanuddin in order to expand international cooperation in the fields of education, research, and scientific development, particularly in mathematics, statistics, and data science. This activity is also in line with the efforts of higher education institutions in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially through strengthening quality education, innovation, and global partnerships.
The UiTM Malaysia delegation present consisted of four lecturers from the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FSKM-UiTM). During the visit, various academic agendas involving the academic community of FMIPA Universitas Hasanuddin were carried out.
One of the main activities was carried out by the Undergraduate Statistics Study Program of FMIPA Universitas Hasanuddin through a Guest Lecture featuring Dr. Noor Fadhilah binti Ahmad Radi from FSKM UiTM Malaysia as the speaker. In this activity, Dr. Noor Fadhilah delivered material entitled "Statistical Modeling" to students of the Undergraduate Statistics Study Program.
Through this guest lecture, students gained an understanding of the concepts, approaches, and applications of statistical modeling in various fields. The delivery of material from the perspective of an international academic provided new insights for students regarding the development of statistical methods and their role in supporting data analysis and evidence-based decision making (data-driven decision making).
In addition to the guest lecture activity for Undergraduate Statistics students, the series of academic visits also included a scientific discussion session themed "Mathematics and AI: New Opportunities Emerging". This activity involved students of the Master's Program in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science with discussions on the development of mathematics and artificial intelligence (AI) as well as opportunities for their application in various data-based fields.
These Academic Discussion and Guest Lecture activities served as a forum for knowledge exchange between Universitas Hasanuddin and UiTM Malaysia, while also opening opportunities for the development of academic and research collaboration in the future. Through this activity, the Undergraduate Statistics Study Program at Unhas continues to be committed to providing global learning experiences for students and strengthening the institution's role in the development of science and sustainable technology.
