The Undergraduate Program in Environmental Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin, conducted industrial visits to PT Huady Nickel-Alloy Indonesia and PT Perkebunan Nusantara XIV (PTPN XIV) Takalar Sugar Factory on Monday, October 31, 2022. The visits aimed to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while exploring opportunities for partnerships in education, research, community engagement, and the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program.
The visits began with introductory sessions and discussions with the management teams of both companies. During the meetings, representatives from the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program presented the study program's profile, graduate competencies, and ongoing academic initiatives. In return, the company representatives introduced their organizations, operational activities, and environmental management practices implemented to support sustainable industrial operations.
The discussions focused on identifying potential areas of collaboration between the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program and the two industry partners. Proposed forms of cooperation included student internship programs, guest lectures delivered by industry professionals, collaborative research projects, industrial field visits, curriculum development aligned with industry needs, and community engagement initiatives. In addition, both parties explored opportunities to support the implementation of the MBKM Program, enabling students to gain practical learning experiences in professional industrial environments.
Through these industrial visits, the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program aims to strengthen partnerships with industry stakeholders to enhance the quality of education, research, and community service while producing graduates equipped with competencies that meet the evolving demands of the professional sector. The collaboration is also expected to contribute to the development of environmentally responsible and sustainable industrial practices.
The visits reflect the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program's commitment to expanding strategic partnerships with industry to support academic excellence and foster innovation through collaborative activities between higher education institutions and the industrial sector.
