(PS) The Mining Engineering program at Hasanuddin University went through a lengthy process involving several stages. Planning for the establishment of the Mining Engineering program began in 1998, and it was officially established in 2004 under Establishment Decree No. 1116/D/T/2004. The period from 1998 to 2004 is considered the planning phase. During this phase, intensive efforts were made to formulate the vision and educational direction of the Mining Engineering program through formal discussions with various stakeholders in the mining sector, including: Practitioners in the mining industry (PT Inco Tbk, Soroako, and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, Pomala), mining engineering academics from other universities (ITB), and officials from the Mining and Energy sector (Head of the South Sulawesi Provincial Mining and Energy Office). Arrangements regarding this matter are planned at the faculty and university administration levels, as well as within the Department of Geological Engineering. In general, the topics discussed include the curriculum of the Mining Engineering program (Exploration Mining track, General Mining track, and Metallurgy track) from the stakeholders’ perspective, and its relationship with other programs at Hasanuddin University.
