The vision of the Mining Engineering Study Program is an elaboration of the vision of Hasanuddin University—with an emphasis on the Indonesian Maritime Continent—and the vision of the Faculty of Engineering—with an emphasis on Engineering for Global Sustainability—which translates into the development of science and technology for sustainable industry within the Study Program.

Therefore, the vision of the Study Program is: “A leading educational institution in the development of mining science and technology oriented toward sustainable industry.”

The mission of the Department of Mining Engineering is an elaboration of the mission of Hasanuddin University, with a focus on student capacity, scientific and technological discovery, and the application of science and technology based on maritime culture. The Faculty of Engineering has formulated its mission in the development of education and the application of science and technology, guided by a maritime cultural ethos, fostering creative and innovative graduates, developing centers of excellence through partnerships, and disseminating Appropriate Technology (TTG) for the sustainability of natural resources. Thus, the mission of the Mining Engineering Study Program is:

To foster moral integrity, teamwork skills, social responsibility, and the flexibility to adapt to global changes in the mining sector and related industries, guided by a maritime cultural ethos.
To conduct educational activities that foster professionalism and a creative mindset in managing activities related to the mining industry.
To play an active role in the advancement of science and innovation in the field of mining engineering through collaboration with institutions related to the mining industry.
