Makassar, April 14, 2026 — The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture Study Program (BDLP), Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, in collaboration with the Aquaculture and Post-Harvest Technology Study Program (TAPP), successfully organized the International Guest Lecture and Vocational Workshop 2026. The event was conducted in a hybrid format at the Scientific Meeting Hall of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNHAS, and was attended by hundreds of participants from various universities and institutions across Indonesia.

The event featured speakers from Dalian Ocean University, Indonesia Digital Leadership Association, Pattimura University, as well as Hasanuddin University. This collaboration reflects a concrete effort to strengthen academic networks across institutions and countries, particularly in the fields of aquaculture, fisheries, and digital transformation.

As the keynote speaker, Prof. Zheng Peng delivered a presentation titled “Research on the Development of Standardized Management of Fisheries and Aquaculture.” In his talk, he emphasized the importance of implementing standardized management systems to improve production efficiency while ensuring the sustainability of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

The invited speakers also enriched participants’ insights through a range of strategic topics:

  • Li Bingyu presented “Development of Marine Microbial Resources and Their Application in Aquaculture,” highlighting the potential of marine microbes in supporting aquaculture systems.

  • He Xin discussed early warning and forecasting technologies for shellfish aquaculture using data-driven approaches.

  • Grace Heny Mardjianto elaborated on strengthening digital talent in the era of artificial intelligence.

The event was chaired by Dr. Dian Novita Sari and officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu as the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNHAS. In his remarks, he emphasized that international collaboration is a key factor in improving the quality of vocational education to meet the evolving demands of the global industry.

Participants, consisting of students and representatives from various institutions, showed strong enthusiasm throughout the event, particularly during the interactive discussion sessions covering aquaculture technology innovations, fisheries resource management, and the integration of digital technologies in the marine sector.

Through this event, BDLP and TAPP reaffirmed their commitment to delivering globally collaborative vocational education. The activity is expected to expand academic networks, enhance student competencies, and foster innovation in sustainable and globally competitive aquaculture.

The International Guest Lecture and Vocational Workshop 2026 originated from the participation of lecturers from the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Hasanuddin, in a Training of Trainers (ToT) program organized by Dalian Ocean University in Dalian, Liaoning, from September to October 2025. This program marked the beginning of intensive communication and the exploration of academic collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in the development of vocational education in aquaculture and fisheries. The follow-up to this initiative was realized through a series of cooperation arrangements, which were formally established with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 13, 2026, at the UNHAS Rectorate Building. Building on this momentum, the guest lecture and workshop were organized as a concrete implementation of international collaboration, focusing on knowledge exchange, network strengthening, and capacity building within the Faculty of Vocational Studies.
