In her remarks, Dr. Dian Novita Sari emphasized that field practice is a key characteristic of vocational education, which prioritizes direct, hands-on experience. “Students need to understand real conditions at aquaculture sites and be able to analyze the differences and challenges of lobster production in controlled environments and in the field. By engaging directly, they can develop technical skills, analytical abilities, and professional work ethics needed in the fisheries industry,” she stated.
The Head of Bontosunggu Village, Andi Patmawati, SE, also expressed appreciation for the activity. She hopes that the presence of students will have a positive impact on the community and help strengthen the potential of lobster farming, which is one of the leading commodities in the village.
The activity ran smoothly, and students showed high enthusiasm in conducting observations, recording data, and discussing environmental factors that influence the success of lobster farming. In addition, this activity strengthened collaboration between the BDLP Study Program, local aquaculture practitioners, and the village government.
Through this field practice, BDLP Unhas continues to demonstrate its commitment to preparing competent, job-ready vocational graduates who are able to contribute to the development of the mariculture sector in island and coastal regions.
