BDLP Unhas Alumni Complete International Internship Program in Japan
November 2025 — The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture Study Program (BDLP), Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, has once again achieved a proud milestone through one of its outstanding students who successfully completed an international internship program in Japan. Zulkifli, S.Tr.Pi, a BDLP alumnus from the 2021 cohort, officially completed a one-year internship at Chuo Gyorui Co., Ltd in Okinawa, Japan, one of the leading fisheries companies specializing in the tuna industry.
This internship program is part of BDLP Unhas’s efforts to equip students with global work experience, particularly in the mariculture sector and modern fisheries industry. Through this opportunity, students gain hands-on experience in tuna production processes, supply chain management, processing technology, as well as the disciplined and professional work culture characteristic of Japan.
In his remarks, Zulkifli expressed his gratitude and pride in being able to participate in the program.
“After completing the tuna internship program in Okinawa, Japan, I gained valuable experiences and lessons that will help me become a better person in the future. It was not only about work, but also about the importance of cleanliness and a sense of family within the company. I have many meaningful memories from this company,” he said.
Zulkifli also hopes that this experience can open opportunities for other BDLP students to follow in his footsteps.
“I hope that in the future I can return to work at this company and bring along my fellow BDLP students and juniors to work there as well,” he added.
The Head of the BDLP Study Program, Dr. Dian Novita Sari, A.Md., S.Pi., M.Si., expressed appreciation for this achievement and stated that BDLP continues to promote internationalization through overseas internship programs as part of its strategy to improve graduate quality. “We are proud to see our students compete and excel in the international workforce. This program reflects BDLP’s commitment to producing vocational marine graduates who are ready to compete globally,” she said.
With this achievement, BDLP Unhas further strengthens its reputation as a leading marine vocational program in producing highly competitive graduates with an international perspective. The international internship program in Japan is expected to continue serving as a gateway for BDLP students to contribute to the global fisheries sector.
