Community Service at Selayar State Vocational High School No. 1: Smart Tourism to Enhance the Travel Experience

Selayar, October 6, 2025 — The Tourism Destination Study Program at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, held a community service event themed “Smart Tourism: Smart Experience & Engagement” in the auditorium of SMK Negeri 1 Selayar. The event was attended by 40 students from the Tourism Services Business program and 9 organizers from the university.

This activity aimed to introduce the concept of smart tourism and enhance understanding of technology use in the modern tourism industry. Through presentations by two speakers—Muh. Rifqi Ananda Putra, S.Tr.Par., M.Par., and G. Jagat Raya An, S.Tr.Par., M.Sc.—participants were guided to understand the importance of technology in creating better travel experiences.

In his opening remarks, the Head of the Study Program, represented by Dr. Yadi Mulyadi, stated that the development of sustainable tourism heavily depends on human resources capable of adapting to technological advancements. “Activities like this are expected to bridge the gap in students’ knowledge and skills as they face the challenges of the tourism industry,” he said.

The event included opening remarks by the program chair, a presentation, a discussion session, and the exchange of souvenirs. The students’ enthusiasm was evident during the discussion session, where they actively asked questions and shared their opinions. This activity is expected to serve as a first step in preparing the younger generation to compete in the era of digital tourism.
