Sidrap, June 25, 2025: Hasanuddin University, through its Faculty of Vocational Studies, continues to strengthen its active role in community empowerment. Through a community service program funded by a grant from the Hasanuddin University Research and Development Institute (LPPM Unhas), a team of lecturers and students from the Animal Production Technology Study Program visited Manisa Village, Baranti District, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, to introduce innovative local food processing. The event was themed "Initiation of a Business Unit and Education for 'Gotik' Oven-Salted Egg Products (Oven-Salted Duck Eggs) as a Typical Souvenir from Sidenreng Rappang Regency."

This innovation offers a method of processing duck eggs using an oven, which is considered more hygienic, efficient, and has a longer shelf life than traditional methods. This product is also expected to become an iconic souvenir with high economic value.

The presence of the Hasanuddin University team was welcomed by the local community and government. In her remarks, the Secretary of Manisa Village, Andi Husainah, expressed her appreciation for the implementation of this activity, which she considered highly relevant to local potential.

"Manisa Village is known as a duck egg center. With innovations like this, we hope to encourage the emergence of new businesses involving women from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and the surrounding community," she said.

The activity took place in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. Residents were actively discussing and providing positive responses to the potential for developing processed duck egg products.

The head of the event, Asmaul Fitriana Nurhidayah, stated that this activity is part of a series of programs that will continue to be developed to support skills development and community economic independence.

"We hope this innovation will not only inspire, but can also be adopted as a sustainable business and provide real benefits to residents," she said.

Through this activity, Hasanuddin University is committed to maintaining its presence in the community, encouraging applied innovation based on local potential, and creating a collaborative space between the academic world and the community.
