Dental Therapy Study Program of Hasanuddin University Conducts Oral Health Screening and Education at Al Izhar Cendekia Islamic Elementary School Makassar
Makassar — September 15th, 2026 The Dental Therapy Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, conducted a Community Service Program entitled “Oral Health Screening and Education” at Al Izhar Cendekia Islamic Elementary School, Makassar.
The activity represents one of the university's contributions to the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education, particularly through promotive and preventive efforts in the field of oral health.
During the program, students received educational sessions on the importance of maintaining good oral health from an early age. The educational materials were delivered using an approach appropriate for elementary school students, allowing the information to be presented in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner.
In addition to the educational session, the students also received oral health examinations. The examinations were conducted as part of an early detection effort and to increase students' awareness of the importance of maintaining oral health and undergoing regular dental check-ups.
The activity was conducted in an interactive and enthusiastic atmosphere. The students actively participated throughout the program and demonstrated considerable interest in the educational materials presented.
Through this community service initiative, the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Dental Therapy, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, continues to strengthen its role in improving community health literacy, particularly in the area of oral health among school-aged children.
Early oral health education plays an important role in developing positive behaviors and healthy habits that can be practiced in everyday life. Therefore, promotive and preventive activities such as this are expected to contribute to developing a generation with greater awareness and concern for oral health.
The Dental Therapy Study Program of Hasanuddin University extends its appreciation to Al Izhar Cendekia Islamic Elementary School Makassar for its support and collaboration in the implementation of this program. Collaboration between higher education institutions and schools is expected to continue and contribute to improving community health.
Through community service, education, and collaboration, the Dental Therapy Study Program of Hasanuddin University remains committed to contributing to a healthier community with greater awareness of the importance of oral health.
