The Community Service (PKM) programme in Archaeology at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Hasanuddin, integrates the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through cross-sectoral collaboration. The preservation of cultural heritage sites and the development of regional museums, in partnership with the Regional Cultural Preservation Office (BPK) Region XIX and the Regional Department of Culture, support SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). Meanwhile, public education and digital cultural literacy initiatives, organised in collaboration with National Archaeology and the Culturin ID Community, contribute to SDG 4 (Quality Education).
The integration of cultural landscape and environmental conservation, in collaboration with Flora and Fauna International (FFI) Maros and the Bumi Toala Foundation, contributes to the achievement of SDG 15 (Life on Land). This initiative promotes the development of archaeology-based tourism villages and the creative economy for local authorities and communities, with support from the private sector, thereby supporting SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). This multi-stakeholder engagement serves as tangible evidence of the implementation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) in the interests of the sustainability of cultural heritage and community well-being.
