Geophysics Department Lecturer Participates as External Collaborator at InVEST Workshop, Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Singapura – Juli 2025
Dr. Muhammad Taufiq Rafie, S.Si., M.T., a lecturer from the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin, took part in the Integrating Volcano and Earthquake Science and Technology (InVEST) workshop, held on 24 July 2025 in Singapore. The workshop carried the theme: "Researching Together to Promote Resilience to Geohazards in Southeast Asia".
Organized by the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the workshop brought together EOS Principal Investigators, research fellows, and their external collaborators to present current research progress and discuss future research directions. The event also provided a platform to delve into key InVEST research themes and scientific questions, fostering new ideas and strengthening ongoing and future collaborative research.

During the workshop, Dr. Taufiq was appointed to collaborate with Dr. Lujia Feng on a study focusing on tectonic deformation in Sulawesi Island. His participation in this prestigious event underscores Universitas Hasanuddin’s growing role in international geoscience collaboration and its commitment to world-class research.
During the workshop, Dr. Taufiq was appointed to collaborate with Dr. Lujia Feng on a study focusing on tectonic deformation in Sulawesi Island—one of the most tectonically active and complex regions in Southeast Asia. This collaboration represents a strategic effort to integrate regional expertise with global scientific approaches in understanding seismic hazards.
Through active participation in high-level scientific forums like the InVEST workshop, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) strengthens its presence within the global research community. It also showcases the university's commitment to addressing pressing geohazard issues through collaborative, interdisciplinary research. This milestone reinforces UNHAS's vision to become a world-class university that contributes significantly to solving real-world challenges, especially those relevant to Southeast Asia’s vulnerability to natural disasters.
