Unhas Geophysics Students Pay an Academic Visit to the BMKG

Makassar, 11 April 2025 – Students from the Geophysics Programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, undertook an academic visit to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) as part of their learning activities and to strengthen their scientific knowledge in the field of geophysics.

The visit aimed to provide students with a direct understanding of the role and functions of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency in monitoring meteorological and climatological phenomena, as well as geophysical activities such as earthquakes and tsunamis. During the visit, students received explanations regarding the observation systems, the instruments used, and the data analysis processes carried out by the BMKG.

Furthermore, this activity served as a means for students to gain practical insight into the application of geophysics in the workplace, particularly in the fields of disaster mitigation and the provision of geophysical information services to the public.

Through this academic visit, it is hoped that students will broaden their horizons, enhance their understanding of the practical applications of geophysics, and be motivated to develop their academic and professional competencies in their field.
