International Colloquium on Policy and Governance: A Strategic Move by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Hasanuddin, and the Faculty of Public Policy, UiTM, to Strengthen Global Partnerships

The Master’s Programme in Public Administration (MAP) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Hasanuddin University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPP) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia, successfully organised the International Colloquium on Policy and Governance, held at the UiTM Shah Alam Campus, Malaysia, on 4 June 2026. The intensive event, which ran from 09:00 to 15:00 local time, served as a vital platform for bringing together academic ideas from both nations. During the event, Andi Rahmat Hidayat, a PhD candidate at Wageningen University & Research and a representative of Unhas’s academic staff, presented in-depth research on the challenges and opportunities of decentralisation and the governance of indigenous peoples’ lands in local policy-making. Academic contributions also came from the MAP Unhas student delegation, with Nailah Zayyan and Erick Fathur Rachman presenting an analysis of the effectiveness of the Solata’ Boss application at the one-stop integrated service office in Makassar City. Additionally, Widi Alviana and Anantasya Putri presented the results of their research on community economic development through the Farmers’ Cooperative in Mokupa Village. This presentation session was further strengthened by the presence of two senior academics from FSPP UiTM, Prof. Yarina Ahmad and Dr Mahadir, who provided a broad perspective on policy and governance issues at the international level. Following the conclusion of the presentation session, the event continued with a strategic discussion on strengthening the partnership between FISIP Unhas and FSPP UiTM in the future. The main focus of the discussion was a commitment to strengthening collaborative research between lecturers from both institutions. Furthermore, the two institutions agreed on a plan to actively implement a student exchange programme, which will include students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to broaden their international horizons and enhance the quality of graduates from both universities.
