28th Anniversary of the Department of Archaeology, Hasanuddin University: A Moment of Togetherness for Alumni and the Academic Community

Makassar, 3 March 2026 — The Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, held its 28th anniversary celebration at the Unhas Hotel and Conventions. The event was combined with the election of the Chair of the Hasanuddin University Archaeology Alumni Association (ILUNAR) for the 2026–2030 period and concluded with a joint breaking of the fast.

In the election, which was conducted by acclamation, Asmunandar, an alumnus from the class of 1994, was elected as the Chairperson of ILUNAR. Currently, Asmunandar is a lecturer in the History Education Programme at Makassar State University and is pursuing a Doctorate in Anthropology at Hasanuddin University.

The event was attended by alumni from various batches, faculty leaders, and all teaching staff of the Department of Archaeology. The chairperson of the Unhas Faculty of Cultural Sciences Alumni Association (IkAFibra), H. Andi Abdul Waris Halid, S.S., M.H, who is also an archaeology alumnus, gave a speech. The Dean of FIB, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.Hum, emphasised the importance of togetherness and alumni support in improving the quality and competitiveness of the Archaeology Department.  

In addition, the Vice Dean for Planning and Resources, the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation Partnerships, and the academic community of the Archaeology Department were also present. The warm atmosphere was further enhanced when the event concluded with a collective breaking of the fast, symbolising unity and intergenerational bonding.

This 28th anniversary was not merely a nostalgic occasion but also a moment to strengthen the commitment of alumni and academic staff in supporting the future development of the Archaeology Department at Unhas.
