The Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Hasanuddin and the Losari Beach Hotel in Makassar Sign a Partnership Agreement on the Preservation of the Ceramics Collection
Makassar, 7 August 2026 — The Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University (FIB Unhas) has officially entered into a partnership with the Losari Beach Hotel in Makassar through the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) in the city of Makassar.
The event was attended by the Dean of FIB Unhas, Prof. Dr Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.Hum; the Head of the Department of Archaeology, Dr Yadi Mulyadi, S.S., M.A.; the Secretary of the Department of Archaeology, Yusriana, M.A.; and lecturers from the Archaeology Undergraduate Programme. Representing Losari Beach Hotel Makassar were the owner, Ir. Arwan Tjahjadi, and members of the hotel’s management team.
This collaboration aims to implement a community service programme entitled “Assistance with the Registration of Cultural Heritage Sites and the Digitisation of Ceramic Collections via a QR Code-Based E-Catalogue to Enhance Tourism Education at the Losari Beach Hotel, Makassar.” This programme will optimise the educational value of the hotel’s historic ceramic collection whilst preparing the necessary steps for registering cultural heritage artefacts with the Makassar City Cultural Heritage Expert Team.

The scope of the project includes the inventory and registration of the ceramic collection, digital documentation using 3D photogrammetry technology, the creation of a QR code-based e-catalogue, and recommendations for the registration of the collection as a cultural heritage site.
Students from the Department of Archaeology are also involved as part of their coursework in Museology, Ceramology and Digital Archaeology. This agreement is valid for six months, from 7 August to 7 December 2026, with funding support from the FIB Unhas internal community service budget and the provision of facilities by the hotel.
