Mastery of Specific Skills: Recording archaeological data, describing the morphology and ornamentation of gravestones, documenting sacred architecture, and conducting spatial analysis of ancient burial sites and mosques.
Knowledge Enhancement: Contextual identification of typologies, epigraphy and material characteristics of Islamic artefacts in the coastal region of West Sulawesi.

Support for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The implementation of this field placement directly contributes to the achievement of the Higher Education Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 358/M/KEP/2026:

KPI 3 (Students Engaged in Activities Outside Their Degree Programme): Students gain learning experiences outside the classroom through field placements, with supervision from lecturers and academic recognition.

IKU 3 (Students Engaged in Activities Outside Their Degree Programme): Supervising the fieldwork of Islamic archaeology students at burial sites. The role of the lecturer as a field supervisor is a prerequisite for the students’ activities to be valid under IKU 3.

Through this activity, students are expected to hone their analytical skills in documenting historical and archaeological heritage, whilst fostering an awareness of the preservation of Islamic cultural heritage sites in Indonesia.
