Unhas Archaeology Lecturer Involved as a Speaker and Expert in the Tosora Zoning Study

Wajo, March 2026 – Two lecturers from the Archaeology Undergraduate Programme at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Akin Duli, M.A. and Dr. Yadi Mulyadi, M.A., have been officially appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, to participate in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Cultural Heritage Zoning of the Tosora Area, Wajo Regency”, organised by the Cultural Preservation Office (BPK) Region XIX.  

The FGD, which took place on 9 March 2026 at the Sirmani Hotel in Wajo Regency, brought together academics, local government officials, and cultural preservation stakeholders. At the forum, the two archaeology lecturers from Unhas served as key speakers, discussing strategies for the preservation and planning of the historic Tosora area.  

Furthermore, pursuant to the letter of appointment dated 5 March 2026, both have also been appointed as experts for the Tosora cultural heritage zone study, alongside Andi Muhammad Syaiful, S.S., M.A. This involvement forms part of a collaborative effort between the Regional Cultural Preservation Office XIX, academics, archaeologists, local government, and the community in compiling a comprehensive zoning study.  

The Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.Hum, emphasised that the participation of Unhas archaeology lecturers in this initiative represents a tangible contribution by the university to the preservation of the nation’s cultural heritage. “The presence of academics in the field not only provides a scientific perspective but also ensures that conservation policies are based on robust research,” he said.  

This initiative is expected to yield strategic recommendations for the management of the Tosora area as one of the key historical and cultural sites in South Sulawesi.
