Guest Lecturer Visit from the Department of History, Diponegoro University, and Strategic Discussion on Historical Research in the Digital Era

On November 21, 2025, the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, hosted a guest visit from two prominent lecturers of the Department of History, Diponegoro University, namely Prof. Dr. Yety Rochwulaningsih, M.Si. and Dr. Haryono Rinardi, M.Hum. The visit focused on discussing strategic issues related to historical research and methodological challenges in the increasingly developing digital era.

During the meeting, various potential collaborative research plans were discussed between the Department of History at Hasanuddin University and the Department of History at Diponegoro University. Several lecturers from Hasanuddin University participated in the discussion, including Dr. Ida Liana Tanjung, M.Hum., who presented research related to coastal areas; Dr. Amrullah Amir, M.A., whose research focuses on the history of deer hunting; and Fajar Sidiq Limola, S.S., M.Hum., who is conducting research on prostitution and the social conditions of the poor among European and Chinese descendants in Makassar.

The event was held in the Mangemba Meeting Room on the second floor of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Hasanuddin University and was attended by several lecturers from the Department of History at Hasanuddin University. In addition, master’s degree students in history participated to discuss and socialize the doctoral program in history offered at Diponegoro University.

This meeting is expected to serve as an effective platform to expand academic networks and enhance the quality of historical research through inter-university collaboration. Furthermore, the discussion opened up opportunities to develop research methods in history that are relevant to the current advancements in digital technology.

With the spirit of collaboration and innovation, the Department of History at Hasanuddin University is committed to continuously enhancing academic capacity and producing excellent research that contributes to the development of historical science in Indonesia.
