Undergraduate Informatics Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University (PS1TIF), was established in 2008 under the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) No. 852/D/T/2008. At the time of its establishment, the Informatics Engineering Study Program operated under the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University. The program was initially located on the fourth floor of the Faculty of Engineering building at Hasanuddin University's Tamalanrea Campus. The first student intake was admitted in 2008, with a total of 60 students, and the program graduated its first cohort in 2012. Graduates of the Undergraduate Informatics Engineering Study Program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (S.T.).
As part of the University's organizational development, the Department of Informatics Engineering was officially established on August 2, 2017, pursuant to Hasanuddin University Rector's Decree No. 21491/UN4.1/KL.06/2017 concerning the Establishment of the Department of Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University. Consequently, the Undergraduate Informatics Engineering Study Program, which had previously been administered under the Department of Electrical Engineering, was transferred to the newly established Department of Informatics Engineering. At the same time, the program relocated to the new Faculty of Engineering campus in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
