On June 8, 2026, the Mining Engineering Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, held a Total Station Training session featuring Rendi Maylandi from PT Dinar Energi Utama as the instructor. This training session aimed to enhance students’ understanding and skills in using surveying instruments, particularly the Total Station and Geodetic GPS, which play a crucial role in mapping, exploration, and mining planning and operations.

During the session, participants received instruction on the basics of Total Stations and Geodetic GPS, including the functions of each component. Additionally, students learned the procedures for conducting measurements using a Total Station, starting from the instrument setup process—which includes centering and leveling—to entering benchmark data, instrument elevation, and prism elevation, all the way through the backsight measurement process. Participants also practiced obtaining coordinate and distance data using the Total Station as a foundation for surveying and mapping activities.

In the Geodetic GPS session, students were introduced to the various components of the equipment used in the field, as well as the procedures for setting up and centering the equipment before measurements are taken. Furthermore, participants learned how to obtain coordinate point data through geodetic GPS software used in the field data acquisition process.
