Food Agribusiness Product Expo 2026

Have a Taste. Give It a Star If You Like It.

MAKASSAR – When it comes to food, descriptions can only tell you so much. Attractive packaging and a catchy product name may get someone's attention, but the real test usually comes with the first bite.
That is perhaps what makes the Food Agribusiness Product Expo at Hasanuddin University's Faculty of Vocational Studies worth a closer look.
Held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the event features food products developed by students as part of their Product Design course. Visitors are invited to sample the products, share their opinions, and purchase anything that catches their interest.
Free tasting is part of the attraction. Visitors can also award one star to their favorite booth through a voting system called Pos Bintang, or Star Station.
The idea is simple enough. Let people try the food and decide what they like.
Making a food product for a university assignment is one thing. Convincing someone to buy it is quite another. Customers are unlikely to care how many hours went into developing a recipe. They want to know whether it tastes good, looks appealing, and offers reasonable value for money.
That is where an event like this becomes particularly interesting.
Students get to see how people respond to what they have created. Some products may receive enthusiastic feedback, while others may need another round of improvement. After all, what works in a classroom does not always appeal to the people who might eventually buy it.
The star-voting system adds a little friendly competition among the booths. A single star may not be a reliable measure of product quality, but it can offer a glimpse of what attracts visitors.
For Food Agribusiness students, meeting potential customers is an experience worth having. Developing a product involves more than getting the ingredients and production process right. There is also the unpredictable business of personal taste.
The expo takes place around the PBV Building at Hasanuddin University's Faculty of Vocational Studies and welcomes members of the university community and other interested visitors.
There is no obligation to buy anything. Have a taste, look around, and pick something up if it appeals to you. And if a product could be better, a thoughtful comment might be just as valuable as a purchase.
Because no matter how much work goes into making food, one question remains: Would someone want to eat it again?
