Hasanuddin University's Marine and Coastal Aquaculture Study Program Holds Community Service Program in Ma'rang District

Pangkep, June 16, 2026 – The Applied Undergraduate Study Program in Marine and Coastal Aquaculture (PS. STr. BDLP), Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, held a Community Service (PKM) activity on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. This activity took place in the Hall of the Ma'rang District Head's Office, Pangkep Regency, and was attended by dozens of participants consisting of fisheries business actors and fisheries extension workers from Bonto-Bonto Village.
This PKM activity featured Ir. Edison Saade, M.Sc., Ph.D., an expert and senior lecturer from Hasanuddin University, as the main speaker. This team of academics aimed to provide education, innovative solutions, and technical assistance to the community in addressing the real challenges facing the local fish farming sector.
In his presentation, Ir. Edison Saade, M.Sc., Ph.D., delivered material on the development of fisheries cultivation and the application of technology and science to increase the productivity of community fisheries businesses. Participants were also provided with an understanding of effective cultivation practices, fisheries business management, and solutions to various problems frequently encountered in fish farming activities.
The interactive discussion provided an opportunity for participants to share various challenges they face in the field. Through a question-and-answer session, participants received input and solutions that can be directly applied in their fisheries businesses.
The Head of the BDLP Study Program stated that this Community Service activity is one of the pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and is mandatory to provide a tangible impact on industry and the wider community. Through this activity, universities not only focus on theory on campus but also actively go out into the field to solve real-world problems in the community.
"This activity bridges the gap between the academic world and the world of practice, bringing knowledge from universities to be applied and solving problems in fish farming activities," said the Head of the BDLP Study Program. 
This activity is expected to improve the understanding, technical skills, and competitiveness of fisheries entrepreneurs in Ma'rang District in managing their aquaculture businesses. Through this Community Service Program, the BDLP Study Program of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, reaffirms its commitment to supporting the strengthening of the national fisheries sector and promoting the sustainable welfare of coastal communities.
