PS.BDLP and the Selayar Islands Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Discuss an MoU and PKS on Participatory Supervision Education.
Selayar, February 2, 2026 — The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture Study Program (PS. BDLP), Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, Selayar Islands Campus, held a coordination meeting with the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of the Selayar Islands Regency on Monday, February 2, 2026. The meeting discussed plans for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) regarding the implementation of participatory oversight outreach and education within the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, Selayar Islands Campus.
This meeting is a strategic step in strengthening the synergy between vocational universities and election supervisory bodies in building awareness of participatory, integrity-based, and sustainable democracy among the academic community.
The meeting agreed that the MoU would serve as the framework for cooperation between the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, and Bawaslu of the Selayar Islands Regency, while the PKS would regulate the technical implementation of the activities. The purpose of this collaboration is to support the implementation of participatory oversight socialization and education within the Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNHAS, Selayar Islands Campus. The goal is to ensure the success of the participatory oversight education program involving students, lecturers, and educational staff.
A representative from the PS. BDLP stated that universities play a strategic role in shaping the character of students who are not only academically and vocationally competent, but also possess democratic awareness, public ethics, and a concern for a free and fair election process.
Meanwhile, the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Selayar Islands Regency expressed its appreciation for the PS. BDLP and the Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNHAS, Selayar Islands Campus, initiative in creating a space for educational collaboration. According to Bawaslu, universities are important partners in expanding the reach of participatory oversight education, especially for the younger generation as agents of change.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to follow up the discussion by drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Joint Working Group (PKS), as well as technical planning for participatory oversight socialization and education activities to be implemented within the Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNHAS, Selayar Islands Campus.
Through this collaboration, PS. The BDLP Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNHAS, affirms its commitment to actively contribute to strengthening democracy with integrity, while expanding the role of vocational education in character building and community participation.
