Second-Year BDLP Students Complete Industrial Training at Three Leading Fisheries Institutions

Selayar, May 2026 — Third-semester students of the Applied Bachelor Program in Marine and Coastal Aquaculture (BDLP), Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Hasanuddin, have successfully completed a series of non-classroom industrial training programs conducted at three leading fisheries institutions in South Sulawesi. This activity is part of the program’s practice-based learning approach, aimed at introducing students to the realities of the business and industrial sectors (Dunia Usaha dan Dunia Industri/DUDI).

The training program was carried out over a period of six weeks at three different locations, each designed to strengthen specific competencies. The first placement took place at PT. Esaputlii Prakarsa Utama in Barru for three weeks. During this training, students gained hands-on experience in crustacean hatchery practices, fish hatchery operations, and disease management in broodstock and larvae. Through these activities, students developed a deeper understanding of commercial seed production systems and aquatic animal health management in an industrial setting.

The second training was conducted for one week at the Balai Pengembangan Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan Vokasi Bidang Kelautan Perikanan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (BPPMPV KPTK) in Gowa. Here, students learned about artificial feed production technology, including feed formulation, manufacturing processes, and feed quality evaluation for aquaculture applications.

The final stage of the training was held at the Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau Takalar for two weeks. Students participated in fish hatchery practices, live feed culture, and disease management in broodstock and larvae. These activities provided comprehensive exposure to hatchery management and sustainable fish seed production techniques.

The Head of the BDLP Study Program stated that industrial training is an essential component of vocational education, designed to strengthen students’ technical competencies through direct field experience. In addition to enhancing practical skills, the program introduces students to workplace culture, operational standards, and the challenges currently faced by the aquaculture industry.

Through this training experience, students are expected to integrate the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom with its practical application in professional environments. Such experience serves as valuable preparation for developing competent, adaptive, and industry-ready graduates in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

This non-classroom industrial training program reflects the commitment of the BDLP Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, to producing graduates whose competencies align with industry needs while strengthening the link and match between vocational education and the world of business and industry.
