Investing in Education for Regional Development: Selayar Regent Monitors Hasanuddin University’s Admission Test

Selayar, July 26, 2026– The Independent Admission Test for the Local Government Partnership Scheme between the Government of the Selayar Islands Regency and the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University was successfully conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Kepulauan Selayar. The admission process was organized for applicants to the Bachelor of Applied Science (D4) in Tourism Destination Management and Bachelor of Applied Science (D4) in Marine and Coastal Aquaculture programs, reflecting a strategic collaboration to expand access to higher education for the youth of Selayar.
The examination was administered using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, ensuring a selection process that was transparent, objective, and accountable. Participants demonstrated enthusiasm and dedication throughout the examination as they competed for the opportunity to pursue vocational higher education aligned with the region’s development priorities.
The event received special attention with the presence of the Regent of the Selayar Islands Regency, H. Muh. Natsir Ali, who personally visited the examination venue to observe the implementation of the admission process. During his visit, the Regent toured the examination rooms, interacted with the organizing committee, and encouraged the participants to remain confident and perform to the best of their abilities.
The Regent’s attendance highlighted the Local Government’s strong commitment to investing in human capital development through quality higher education. This partnership program is expected to produce graduates equipped with practical skills and professional competencies that directly support the sustainable development of the Selayar Islands, particularly in the strategic sectors of tourism and marine resources.
